Techniques for dealing with difficult and challenging behaviour in the workplace

Dealing with Difficult and Challenging Behaviour

A half-day training workshop for staff who may experience forms of challenging behaviour in service users

"I will now be able to look for the triggers that are causing the behaviour in customers."

Dealing with difficult and challenging behaviour is something that affects many of us in our daily working lives. Whether we are trainers/educators, working with the young/elderly or customer facing, challenging behaviour - if not handled correctly - can have a negative affect on staff, families, friends and the reputation of the organisation. This interactive and informative workshop looks at the causes of challenging behaviour and identifies strategies that will help you break the cycle, enabling you to spend more time on your job and less time managing behaviour.

The aim of this course is to help you have a better understanding of challenging behaviour and to develop strategies to deal with it.

At the end of the course you will be able to:

Understand challenging behaviour
Identify trigger points
Identify early warning signs
Effectively manage challenging behaviour

Dealing with Challenging Behaviour consists of the following:

What is Challenging Behaviour?
The Behavioural Response Cycle
Categorising Types of Challenging Behaviour
The Impact of Challenging Behaviour
Potential Causes of Challenging Behaviour
Recognising Early Warning Signs
Responding to Challenging Behaviour
The Recovery Stage
Delivering Unwelcome News
